The climate of central Virginia is optimum for growing many of the best grapes to make excellent wine, and that same climate also provides extended seasons of comfortable temperatures for visitors and locals to sit back and enjoy the best vintages while gazing over the astounding views of the rolling hills and Blue Ridge Mountains. Named one of the world’s top 10 wine travel destinations in 2012 by Wine Enthusiast magazine, the Virginia wine industry is expected to continue to grow. We are already the fifth largest wine producing state, but we are skyrocketing. The modern Virginia vintners and oenological wizards have accomplished what even Thomas Jefferson failed to do: that is to cultivate fantastic grapes to produce fantastic wines. Two prominent personalities acquired established vineyards right near us, and created quite a buzz. Steve Case, the co-founder and former CEO of American Online (AOL), and his wife Jean purchased Sweely Estate in Madison. It is now Early Mountain Vineyard, and it is gorgeous.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump purchased the Kluge Estate, located south of Charlottesville, and Trump Winery now produces not only excellent wines, but the best BLT sandwich we have ever eaten. Clients can enjoy the wine even while being chauffeured from one wine tasting room to the next! But the same is true of our special VanTerras. We have always chosen our vehicles to be highly amenable to conversation among our wine tasting clients. They are quiet (although with excellent sounds systems if you want!), and most importantly, the seating is in a U-shape, so that friends and family can see and chat with each other. No looking at the back of each others’ heads! (By the way, the interior design of our vehicles is such that no one ever faces backwards). Of course we also offer luxury sedans and SUV’s for smaller parties.
