But Belly has more than just swagger; it boasts a staggering wine list organized by flavor profile and a staff of wine geeks who will happily lead you to a new favorite. If you’re looking for classy snacks to pair with that medium-bodied red, this hybrid café/deli/bar peddles sandwiches, charcuterie, and desserts, not to mention cheeses from around the world.

(But you probably guessed that from the name.) It’s open for every meal, but mostly caters to an after-work crowd who enjoys killing half a bottle while debating which cheese to take home. Courtesy of The Butcher Shop For those who can get past the severe hipness of an expensive South End restaurant resembling an old-timey meat emporium, Barbara Lynch’s take on a European butcher shop is worth a taste. The tiny establishment serves house-made charcuterie and a host of wines from Italy, France, Spain, and Australia -- including several proprietary blends -- alongside appetizers that are small, swanky, and best paid for by someone else. While the bottle list is long, there isn’t much in the way of hand-holding for the uninitiated, so wine newbies may want to choose from one of the four daily house picks (one each of white, red, rosé, and Madeira). Be warned: Butcher Shop is popular, so seats are scarce. You may end up sipping that summer rosé while leaning on the meat locker.

With live jazz Tuesday through Saturday and a gorgeous interior, it’s a perfect date location. Spoke is just enough off the beaten path that the whiskey-swilling Saloon crowd hasn’t discovered it yet, which means it’s the least crowded bar in Davis. Don’t let that fool you -- the service is excellent and the food (especially dessert) is beyond delicious, making it the best date spot in the area.

Courtesy of Brian Samuels One of the most notable wine programs in the city belongs to Beat Brasserie (formerly Beat Hotel) in Harvard Square. The trippy '70s-inspired space has 36 all-American wines on tap, many of which are made exclusively for the place. Combine that with craft cocktails and live music in the style of The Beehive, and you’ve got a funky underground wine bar that’ll make you yearn to learn macramé. OK, so it’s not a wine bar per se, but it would be a shame to leave it off our list. This Theater District French restaurant was voted one of America’s top 100 wine restaurants for its insane selection and rare vintages. Plus, with a pairing for every dish on the menu, you can’t not know what to order. If you’re feeling adventurous, try a 2oz taste for just $3.75. I wasn't impressed the first time my husband and I went there for dinner fall of 2016....2 entrees & 2 glasses of wine were $70+ and we left feeling hungry.

When friends invited us to dine there last week (March 2017) for our birthdays (3 out of the 4 of us had birthdays within the last week) we accepted since... The chef here is amazing -social and regular menu items are consistently amazing -the grape leaves are perfect -had them multiple times! Had the pot pie -please order this before the season ends!!!!! Amazing wine options and beer selections -this local spot has it all -great food treats and selections of beers and wines -casual but not too casual -have... Stopped in Saturday afternoon with my sister and was greeted by Bobby the wine buyer. He is very nice and knowledgeable. He was kind enough to walk us around and explain in depth all the different wines to us, it was very interesting. We then sat down and tried a few different kinds of wine and then Bobby gave us... Tired of chains and multi location quasi chains... this is the place for you. Full disclosure, I am in this establishment 1-2 times per week. But it did not start that way.

I came once and checked it out. It is a very nice restaurant on one side with dishes that surprise and delight. The service, food atmosphere and clients... Stopped in to enjoy a couple of brats, a pretzel & couple glasses of wine w/ good company while watching the Tribe win the American League championship! North End is one of the best kept secrets in Hudson! Owners Scott & Elaine are the best! Great wine and beer selection, very good food, nice ambience, average service. We were here with friends for Happy Hour. The Happy Hour wine and beer selection was limited but very good. And, the complete selection of wines and beers was available, just not discounted. The seating is in the actual wine store, among the racks of wine and the...Thanks so much for giving North End a try and writing a great review for us! I am thrilled you were pleased with so many things about our place and hope you'll be back soon; however, I am extremely disappointed that our service not only did not meet your expectations but that it didn't exceed them.

We had the pub pretzel and mushroom brie soup (both excellent) and on tap beer and wine. Beer selection is extensive. Bar tender was fun, friendly and beer savvy. North End was highly recommended to us by MS Ren at the J B King Guesthouse. You may have doubts when you first enter but do yourself a big favor and stay! The food was OUTSTANDING! We had mussels that were to die for and a lamb meatloaf with goat cheese in the center. And the great thing is... Huge choice of wines! Knowledgeable wait staff and bar tenders to help with selections. Food is good and appetizers are fun to share during a happy hour time. Parking is okay but can get crowded. Bathroom is a one-zie so that can be a pain waiting. But I would definitely recommend an evening out with friends or... I receive emails from them all the time. Looked like a nice palce to grab a glass of wine. The bar has maybe 6 seats, a couple hi-top tables and there are HUGE beer refrigerators along one wall. Not much in the way of ambiance.
