best wine list florida

Magazine names Steak 954 among nation's best wine restaurants. Three South Florida restaurants are on Wine Enthusiast Magazine’s 2015 list of the 100 Best Wine Restaurants in America.Along with Steak 954 in Fort Lauderdale and Alter and DB Bistro Moderne in Miami, two other Florida restaurants made the list. They are Jiko in Lake Buena Vista and Bern’s Steak House in Tampa. The magazine, first published in 1988, has an affluent readership and worldwide circulation of more than 180,000. Here’s what the magazine had to say about each South Florida restaurant.A new chef is adding several local seafood options to an already popular menu that includes a $65 cheesesteak made with wagyu rib-eye. Wine Enthusiast likes the list’s more than 400 different bottles, which focus on international, food-friendly wines from family-owned wineries to suit the lighter menu additions. That said, the editors’ favorite pairing is the 954 Cheesesteak with Veuve Clicquot 1998 La Grand Dame Brut Rosé Champagne.
While this adventurous Wynwood restaurant only opened in May, the magazine loved its wine list. “It was really happening on deadline, but they seemed to be happy with what we put together,” chef and owner Bradley Kilgore says. “We were happy and proud of what we were able to do.” Wine Enthusiast praised Alter’s dual approach to wine. One short list focuses on pairing and price, while a second deeper list includes several mature vintages and rare bottlings. The favorite pairing is Floridian clams with guitar noodles, lemon verbena, herbs coulis and Burrata purée, with Andrea Felici 2013 Verdicchio Dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore.Wine Enthusiast loves the mash-up of a Parisian-style bistro with local ingredients, such as Everglades frog legs with sauce gribiche. Winewise, the editors celebrated the fact that 65 percent of the list is priced under $100 with lots of South American producers. The favorite pairing is escargots persillade, with Billecart-Salmon Brut Réserve Champagne.
