Vines may be found growing in desert or volcanic regions or in landscapes blanketed by snow. They can grow successfully in places with very low annual rainfall, like the central and south-eastern dry regions, or in extremely damp areas like those of north-western Spain, influenced by Atlantic weather. In fact, in some areas the strength of the wine making tradition is encouraged by the grapevine being the only plant capable of surviving and flourishing in extreme temperatures. Spain has a very high proportion of old vines, giving lower yields. European Union money has enabled the wine industry to modernise and it is now the country that many wine critics consider to make the broadest range of wines of real interest. Torres Natureo - Alcohol Free Penedes Spain For those who wish to enjoy the pleasures of wine with all its flavour but the minimum of alcohol. Pale yellow, very clear. Rich and fresh floral aromas of green apples, peaches and citrics. Fresh and lively on the palate. Marques de Ulia Crianza 2012 Rioja Spain A bright red cherry colour in the glass. The nose shows black fruit and vanilla from the oak. Fruity on the palate, with good balance, leading to a long and pleasant finish. Duquesa de Valladolid Verdejo 2015 Rueda Spain Intense aromas of fresh herbs, cut grass, tropical fruits and mineral notes. The palate shows nice weight and the finish is suprisingly long for a Verdejo, this is a wine that punches above its price tag.

Marques De Caceres Blanco 2015 Rioja Spain A delicious dry white wine from Viura grapes. Surprisingly fresh and intense fruit highlighted by soft mineral notes. Clean and lively with good length. Torres San Valentín, Catalunya Spain Fully ripe Parellada grapes are used to produce this slightly off-dry wine. Cool-fermented in modern stainless steel tanks, the aim is to achieve a wine that combines youthfulness with a fresh, fruity character. Marques De Caceres Rosado 2014 Rioja Spain A dry rose wine from the tempranillo and garnacha grapes. Clean and vibrant on the palate with delicious raspberry and strawberry notes, balanced well by fresh acidity. Torres Vina Esmeralda 2014 Penedes Spain Moscatel and Gewürtztraminer form the basis for Viña Esmeralda, an exceptionally delicate and strikingly fragrant wine. A voluptuous, exotically perfumed nose with well-defined primary floral and fruity aromas. wonderfullly silky on the palate, this is a very refreshing food friendly wine.

Marques De Caceres Antea Barrel-aged White 2014 Rioja Spain This select wine of limited production has a nice straw colour with pale gold on the rim. Complex bouquet disclosing fresh fruit, grapefruit, pears and spice. The lees and barrel ageing give the wine depth and intensity without compromising the all important fruit characters. Gold Medal Decanter Magazine Marques De Caceres Ecologico 2013 Rioja Spain Pretty ruby red colour with a touch of violet on the rim. Charming on the nose with clean, fresh fruit and floral sensations (violets) in the background that enfold a pleasant vivacity. Delicious in the mouth with crisp fruit, exceptional structure and silky-soft tannins. Bodegas LAN Crianza 2011 Rioja Spain Intense aromas of red fruits, strawberry, raspberry and cranberry touched by fine nuances of vanilla and liquorice.
