Coca Cola can be substituted. Then it would be a Bloody Cola! When making any cocktail with Champagne, be sure to add the Champagne to the flute last. Pour the Champagne slowly over the other ingredients to avoid an overflow. Stirring these cocktails is not usually necessary as the bubbles do most of the work, but when you do, stir slowly and gently. For the best results serve Champagne cocktails right away. Mixing with wine can be a lot of fun because there are so many wines to explore and each will make an entirely different cocktail in the end. Another aspect that I enjoy about wine cocktails is that these are great ways to thoroughly enjoy those cheaper wines. Not to say that there are not an ever increasing number of decent $5 wines available, but if there is one that you find a little too dry, sweet, or tart one of these drinks may be the answer for finishing off the bottle. ¾ c. red wine
