ONEHOPE is a California-based social enterprise that sells wine and other products and services to raise awareness and funding for charitable organizations and social causes.[2] ONEHOPE donates half of its profits to charity and each ONEHOPE wine varietal supports a different charitable cause or organization.[5] The company's charitable donations are made through the ONEHOPE Foundation.[7] The ONEHOPE Foundation has raised over $1 million for various charities. ONEHOPE co-founder Jake Kloberdanz is the company's chief executive officer.[8] ONEHOPE Winery is in Napa, California. Robert Mondavi, Jr., grandson of Robert Mondavi, has partnered with the winery. In 2005, Jake Kloberdanz was a district sales manager for E&J Gallo Winery.[10] In August 2006, one of his childhood friends was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkins lymphoma. Kloberdanz had observed that products supporting charity sold well in grocery stores, and he began planning what would become ONEHOPE.[11] Kloberdanz and seven of his coworkers left Gallo to start ONEHOPE as a charitable business in 2007.

[12] The company was launched with $10,000 and an initial partnership with Sonoma Wine Company and vintner David Eliot to create its wine.[10] The company's first wine, a 2005 merlot, sold 8,000 bottles in its first year. Our own Kristen Shroyer attended, and recaps the experience in her own words:We (a group of about 15 donors/suppliers that support WPF and Whole Foods employees that raised the most in-stores for WPF) met at the Phoenix International Rescue Committee (IRC) office, which is an organization that WPF donates to. The IRC responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. In the US, they assist refugees (after they go through the nearly 2 year process of being vetted by the government) when they come to our country. The IRC offers everything from job placement and training/certifications, economic wellbeing (like educating on credit scores and helping refugees get a 640 credit score in just 2 months), therapy/counseling and much more. There are IRC offices in 29 US cities, and I think you’d be surprised at where many of them are located (like Missoula, MT, Wichita, KS and more).

Whole Planet Foundation funds microloans to many of these refugees. Even something as little as $100, surprisingly, has helped many get a start and create their own businesses in the US. We ate lunch and dinner both days at restaurants started by refugees and toured a grocery store also owned by a refugee – all were helped by microloans that Whole Planet supports.Thank you for ALL of your hard work, we are truly changing lives – both in our local communities and countries across the world.
