This wine was a first for me in two ways: I have never had a wine made with chocolate, and before sipping this I had never had a wine made in Idaho. I've never been to Idaho, either. This smells like chocolate - not cacao nibs, not dark chocolate, but rather candy-flavored chocolate. My tasting partner wouldn't use the word 'hate' - opting for merely, and barely, tolerating it. It has a lasting finish that went on far too long. I will say this: It tastes much less than its 7 percent residual sugar. And I won't hold this wine against Idaho. Robert Mondavi Private Selection Bourbon Barrel Aged Cabernet Sauvignon Guess beer isn't the only thing being aged in bourbon barrels these days. There is a nice, subtle hint of alcohol on the nose and finish in this tasty wine. It has a bit of warming to it - not surprising at 14.5 percent alcohol - but the flavors and fruit are not overwhelming.
