Please check out our seasonal menu. Not a relaxing experience. Server/host was intimidating and we couldn't enjoy our meal. Bathrooms are excellent, clean and probably newly done. The Lamb Shank is great on a bed of very tasty risotto with some vegetables. Gusto Signature pizza is very good as well.

The Orecchiettte con Salsiccia e Rapini is however. not the best dish on the menu. Very bland taste with a... This is a gem in Old South, Wortley Village. Relaxing atmosphere and great food and wine. My husband and I took up a spot at their bar for dinner, we did not have reservations. The service was great. Dinner was a little slower than we expected... but it is The Village after all therefore located in the perfect place. this small pub has great food for dinner in a small intimate setting the food is wonderful but because it is small reservations for dinner especially on weekend nights are a must the staff is friendly and the service is very good Definitely a nicely decorated, but very small place. Great selection of good wines. Unfortunately, my wife ordered the Chicken Parm and it was over cooked and dry. She wasn't able to eat it. They were so apologetic and made sure she quickly got a replacement. She enjoyed the Gnocchi. They comped her entrée. Visited Gusto recently with friends,we had the arancini, caesar salad and soup as starters.

What a great mistake. Great atmosphere, excellent wine and the food was outstanding. We really enjoyed that it was quaint so we could actually enjoy our conversation and time with friends. My daughter (35) and I had dinner here before a Knights game. The atmosphere is cozy and quaint. Our server was lovely and efficient. The food is presented nicely and was delicious. Enjoyed an excellent lunch at Gusto Food And Wine Bar on Wortley Rd in old south London. My husband and I shared ARANCINI as our appetizer, something I am hesitant to order since often they can be greasy and heavy. These were light , crisp and not at all greasy. 4 to a serving so perfect for sharing . Buried deep beneath cobbled streets in Covent Garden, Gordon's Wine Bar is composed of multiple caves and tunnels filled with small candlelit tables and copious bottles of wine, which is somehow more romantic than it is gimmicky. Gordon's has been around since 1890, and is still going strong serving its wide selection of global wines (ranging from red to rosé to vegan) and a handful of snacks, such as cheese plates, a smoked salmon salad, and peppers stuffed with feta cheese.

A legend since 1879. Fleet Street used to be the home of London's newspapers, and this is where the journalists would drink and gossip. Women weren't allowed at the bar until the 1980s! It's less raucous now, as the customers are mainly lawyers. The food is basic; the meat pies are the thing to go for. The wine list is extremely old-fashioned, with lots of claret and generic white burgundy by the glass, and none the worse for it. It's recently been taken over by Davy's, a wine bar chain, so it's not clear what the future is. Today, wine bars are fashionable. There's even been talk that wine itself might be... *whisper it* cool. Things were very different when I was growing up. Wines bars were considered terribly old-fashioned. Most weren't even aimed at wine lovers. Instead, they were places to drink that were open later than pubs. You might have gotten some cheese and crackers or shop-bought pate to eat, if you were lucky. There was a chain in the north of England called Yates's Wine Lodge;

from the name, you'd imagine it was a good place to discuss the difference between left bank and right bank Bordeaux. If you tried, you'd be in for a rude shock. On a Friday and Saturday night, Yates's would be crammed with people getting uproariously drunk on anything but wine. Even during the dark days, however, there were places serving good quality wine and food, and some of them are still around. What the newer places offer is sharper cookery and more adventurous wines, many of which are available by the glass thanks to the wonders of Enomatic machines or the Coravin (a sort of handheld Enomatic that dispenses a tasting measure and then seals the bottle with an inert gas). So I thought it would be interesting to examine the now-thriving wine bar sector in London. I've tried to group them roughly in order of opening, so you go from very old school to bang up to date. Passionate about coffee, food & winecosy. The Remedy is a wine bar and kitchen run by two friends with a serious passion for food, wine and coffee.

We wanted to create a cosy and relaxed place where people could discover great food and beautiful wine — something in the style of the Continental enotecas and neighbourhood bistros we know and love. And so The Remedy was born. Our name is a cheeky nod to medicinal cures of yore. We’re not doctors but we’re pretty sure a glass of great wine and a bite to eat can solve (just about) any problem.That’s us in a nutshell. Once derided as 'poison', Austrian wines have reached new levels of quality in the last couple decades.

We'll have an incredible selection of wines both by-the-glass and bottle for the entire month.
